No negativity allowed

Faux fur gilet H&M, Sweater H&M, legging H&M, Bag Vila, Shoes Vans

Hi dearest,
I had such a nice week! I had a positive mid-term appraisal which is an evaluation of my performance during my internship. I really enjoy what I am doing: my awesome job, blogging, hanging out with my family and friends…To summarize, I love my life at the moment.

During the last couple of years I did not realize that banning negative energy is crucial in order to have an awesome life. This year I started doing that, it is simply not worth it to have people in your life who prevent you from growing. I will not erase them from my memories, because who forgets the past also loses the future.

Matching prints

Cardigan Primark, Playsuit H&M, Shoes Vans, Bag Sacha, Jewelry gifts

Hi dearest,

Last week I mentioned that I was going to pierce my ear. Guess what? I pierced my tragus and the pain is not so bad. It heals pretty fast, but I think it differs from person. When doing research about it I had read lots of horror stories about it, but for me the procedure went really fast.

Today I have decided to combine different prints together and for me it worked out great. If I would wear just a regular cardigan (without prints) I think that this look would be pretty boring. I did not wear lots of jewelry since it will make this look very ‘crowded’.

The higher the heel, the closer to heaven

Dress Forever21, sneakers Nike Free runners, bag Sacha

Hi dearest,

My first week at Unilever was awesome. I figured out that the company wants the best for its employees and that motivates me to give my best to the company.

Last Thursday and Friday I have been in Hamburg for training purposes. I love the city, there is such a good vibe and not to forget the stores are open till 10 pm. On Thursday after training I went with colleagues to the city center and we decided to experience the wine festival. I met amazing people during my stay at Hamburg!

In Europe, we are shocked because of an airplane crash of Malaysia Airlines. Lots of families in the Netherlands are devastated, because of a loss of a beloved one. My world would collapse if it would happen to my relatives. I feel so sorry for all the families who are mourning.  My condolences to everyone affected by this horrific occurrence.

Jacket H&M, Jumpsuit Monki, Shoes Converse, bag Mango
 Hi dearest,

I have been learning for a couple of exams last week. I feel so relieved, because I have now  summer break for three weeks before I start working.

The sales season started since a couple of weeks. Thus, I feel like a kid in a candy shop in every single store. But now I think it is useless to buy summer clothes, while it is never really hot in the Netherlands. I might be good weather for a month and then it becomes chilly, rainy or very cold again. Therefore, I will wait for the winter collection!

5 - 1 for Holland!

Dungarees H&M, crop top H&M, Shoes Nike Free runners, Sunglasses Forever21

Hi dearest,

Normally I am not a hooligan (I do not even like soccer), but I was yelling all the time during the match yesterday between Holland and Spain. No one expected that Holland will perform like that, it was awesome! So today I decided to wear my orange Free runners, because I am really proud!

Casual sunday

Denimjacket unknown, dress New Look, sneakers Nike, bag Sacha

Hi dearest,

I had spent this amazing day together with my best friend Samreen. I have to get used to everything in Holland, but I am loving the fact that I am living in a city again. Chico was a small community which did not had lots of cultural variety.  But I have to admit that I miss California.

All fluffy again

Cardigan Forever21, Dress H&M, Shoes Converse, sunglasses Forever21

Hi dearest,

My hair has been out of control lately and I just think it is begging me for a cut which will happen soon. But until it happens I will have it in a bun for a while…I think…maybe.

Blouse H&M, Crop Top Forever21, High-waisted shorts Forever 21, Necklace H&M, Shoes Nike Free

Hi dearest,

This coming Friday I will go to San Francisco for culture class in order to visit some museums and the Golden Gate bridge. When I was in Los Angeles I figured out that bringing a backpack would be much easier and convenient. My next post will be about how to pack your backpack efficiently and effectively.

About my outfit today: I was wearing my favorite high-waisted shorts from Forever21 with a pink crop top from the same shop. I wanted a kimono since February, but I did not find the right one. Therefore I had worn this blouse from H&M which gave my desired effect to the outfit.  As always I am wearing my favorite shoes: Nike Free.

The tiger shirt

 Hi dearest,

I have been feeling so tired after my trip to Los Angeles, because I barely slept. Consequently I have been sleeping like a baby the last couple of days. As time is going on much faster, I started realizing that I am going back home within approximately five weeks. This also means that the finals are coming and that I have to focus even more on school. Before the finals I will go to San Francisco with my culture class in order to cross the Golden Gate Bridge, head down to China town and go to the beach. Sounds like lots of fun huh?

About the outfit: The sunglasses are from Forever21…Before buying these I fell in love with RayBans which were similar like these but did not had the golden detail in it. I got the tiger shirt from my girl Samreen and she bought it at ZARA. The blouse is from ONLY and it is really a must have! I wear it as a dress and sometimes as a coat. The leggings are from H&M and the shoes are Nike Freerunners.

Sunny

Hi dearest,

I have been posting fewer things lately, because I have to learn so much for my midterms. On top of that I decided to design two questionnaires as part of research project. As I said in my last post I have been seeing things from a different perspective. For example, I found out that I had been feeling down because of my spending patterns. The first month over here was so expensive, oh my Gosh.
The second phase of this experience is getting to know the culture. How are Americans? What are their values, norms and beliefs? How do Americans see internationals? And how can internationals/foreigners get closer to Americans? These questions will be answered with the findings of my questionnaire.

My experiences in California are varied and this is makes my exchange precious. This just indicates that the quality of my experience is very high and that it helps me to get more mature. If I wanted everything to be easier I would just decide to go to a resort. During the first month of my stay here I was so negative, there was bad luck everywhere. But at a certain point I just decided to make my stay fortunate, unique and fun.

Back to basics

Hi dearest,

Being sick in a foreign country sucks! Especially when you know that you will not recover before going back home. I had been begging my mother last month to let me return to Holland, there where my family, best friends and my cute little dog are. She told me to block the negative thoughts and to try to look at things from a different perspective…and so I did. So far so good: I am planning my spring break and I have been hanging around with amazing people.

The white shirt is from the basics line of Forever21 (I noticed that I have been shopping a lot over there lately). I got the legging from the basics line of H&M when I was in Sacramento. The blouse is from H&M Divided; most of the time I wear it this way. My auntie bought the denim jacket in her twenties and gave it to me a couple of years ago. She got them from Miss Sixty. The shoes are from Nike, and  they are so comfortable.

Stripes

Hi dearest,

Today I went with more international students to Sacramento and Roseville which was very nice. The mall in Roseville is huge, there is nothing like that in Holland. The stores differ, some were very cheap and some were very expensive. Sacramento reminded me of Rotterdam and it felt like being at home.

I bought the blouse and the bag at Forever21. I bought the skirt four years ago in Holland at New Yorker. I got the cardigan from H&M.

Fuzzy

Hi dearest,

I turned 21 on Wednesday. I woke up and immediately ran into a big poster which was made by my housemates. It was such a beautiful gesture and it really made my day. In the evening I went to a Mexican restaurant for my birthday dinner. Thereafter, I ate my delicious birthday cake made by my housemates.

So about today’s outfit: I bought the yellow, fluffycardigan and the T-shirt at Forever21. I got the legging from H&M; I combined the outfit with my black Converse.

Whatever man

Hi dearest,

You will probably notice that I love black. This is a picture which I have taken a while ago, but I did not have the time to post this.

Back in Holland I bought the ‘Whatever’ shirt. I immediately fell in love with it when being in the H&M store. If I did not forget my leather pants back home I would combine those two. But I just combined it with my black leggings from ONLY. What I love about ONLY is that they sell clothing for tall women as well. It is so difficult sometimes to find the right pair of leggings when you are as tall as I am. I bought the skull leather jacket at H&M as well. My friend Samreen showed it to me and kept on saying that I really need to buy it. Afterwards I am not sorry at all!

I would wear those shoes to have a kind of ‘color bomb’ in my outfit.
